Spring clean your credit report!

Spring is here! It’s time for a spring clean!

With Spring on the horizon in Australia, it could be time to spring clean your credit report.

And as many of us are still in lockdown, what better way to spend an evening!

This article can help you with steps to spring clean your credit report.

How to get started

  1. Grab a copy of your credit report from Equifax, Illion and/or Experian.
  2. Have a read through of your report.
  3. Does your credit report confuse you?
  4. Learn about your reports with our free eBook (click here to download a copy).
  5. Is there any data on your report that seems odd or incorrect?
  6. Lodge a dispute to the credit provider directly
  7. Allow them 30 to 45 days to investigate your complaint

Hopefully that helps you to spring clean your credit report and as a result fix your credit!

Some more top tips

24 months repayment history information is now being reported on your credit report.

If you’ve been late with payments, these could be listed on your report.

Loans like mortgages, credit cards and personal loans are now recorded.

Missed repayments can affect your credit score and report.

They can also affect your ability to access the best interest rates.

Too many enquiries can also bring down the credit score.

And, in turn they could affect you getting a loan.

Speak to a local accredited finance broker before you apply for finance.

They can help with mortgages, personal loans and vehicle/business finance.

Happy FriYAY!! Sharing some happy news to bring you into the weekend!

Morning and happy FriYAY!

It’s day something or other in lockdown for us in Sydney.

I hope you’re all well and safe!

On the plus side we had some fantastic successes this week.

My podcast with The Adviser went live this week.

The editor Annie Kane and I discuss comprehensive credit reporting:

It’s a 30 minutes podcast and will help with your understanding of credit reporting.

Things like repayment history information and what is your credit score.

Here’s a link to the web page about the episode:
https://www.theadviser.com.au/elite-broker/41911-in-focus-the-new-credit-reporting

Also, I wanted to share a great success story from this week.

We had a new broker come to us on 30th August with a client of his.

He couldn’t get her the first home owners grant scheme loan.

She had one default listed on her credit report.

31st August I received the credit report from his client and she came on board.

Today, 3rd September, I got a default removal confirmation for the client!!!

MIC DROP MOMENT!!

Broker is over the moon as he needed the default removed due to the nature of the loan his client required.
(First home buyer etc etc).

Anyway, thought I’d share some good news to bring us into the weekend!

Oh…..and I had a chair dance at my desk to MC Hammer just now hehe!

Happy FriYAY

Using buy now pay later lenders and your credit report

We help people understand their credit reports and with credit repair Australia wide.

This is another top tip article brought to you by our CEO Victoria Coster.

Have you heard of buy now pay later loans?

This is where you go to a shop, or shop online and the retailer offers you a few months to pay off the purchase.

You usually get to pay the purchase off over 3 months with no interest.

Buy now pay later Lenders have replaced ‘lay-by’ across much of Australia.

Should I use a buy now pay later facility?

We think the following pros and cons may assist you with the answer.

  1. A BNPL loan is better than taking out a credit card for $1000 and paying interest
  2. As long as the purchase doesn’t put an enquiry on your report it’s ok.
  3. If the BNPL lender puts an enquiry on your report this can drop your score
  4. Just 1 BNPL enquiry on your report can drop your score down around 50 to 100 points
  5. Do you really need to purchase the item you are looking at?
  6. Could you save up and then buy the item in 2 or 3 months time?
  7. Lenders look at your bank statements and your spending habits
  8. Lenders could question BNPL purchases to assess your credit worthiness

We’ve had a few clients recently needing credit repair Australia wide.

Not because they have defaults or really adverse information on their credit reports.

But JUST to remove 1 or 2 BNPL enquiries because their score was too low for the Lender they wanted!!

Check your credit report today!
